WAYNE BRIDGE HAILS ANTONIO CONTE FOR TRANSFER BUSINESSES AT TOTTENHAM

According to journalist German Garcia Grova, Villarreal have agreed personal terms with Giovani Lo Celso as a loan deal with Tottenham edges closer. The Argentine midfielder is unwanted by Antonio Conte and he is nearing a second loan move to the Spanish side. Villarreal came out winners from the loan deal when they signed Lo Celso last January. The midfielder was a crucial part of Unai Emery’s side that reached the Champions League semi-finals, beating Bayern Munich along the way.

As he returned to north London for pre-season, Antonio Conte made it abundantly clear the midfielder wasn’t part of his plans. Lo Celso was left behind alongside three other first-teamers as Spurs went along their pre-season tour of Korea. Despite plenty of interest from various clubs, an agreement had not been struck with any team. WAYNE BRIDGE: ENGLAND SENIOR CAREER PROBED

Wayne Bridge scored once in 36 appearances during his seven-year stay with the England senior national team. The left-back played for both the England u-18s and u-21s before he was given a call-up to the senior team by Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson. Virtually all his managers in the England youth team setup predicted that Wayne Bridge will play for the senior team and that prediction came to pass when he was given an invitation to the senior team and the defender made his first full cap against the Netherlands on February 13, 2002. Wayne Bridge proved himself quickly as a reliable left-back and he went on to make two appearances at the 2002 FIFA World Cup tournament in Japan and South Korea. All his appearances at the World Cup in Korea and Japan came as a substitute.

Wayne Bridge also made the 23-man squad for England to the Euro 2004 tournament in Portugal, but he didn’t play at all throughout the tournament as Ashley Cole was the preferred choice at left-back. Wayne Bridge was also used as a left midfielder to solve the problematic position only for him to lose the position to Chelsea teammate Joe Cole due to an injury.

BRIDGE: CHELSEA MAJOR HONOURS REVEALED

England international left-back Wayne Bridge moved to Chelsea from Southampton in 2003. The Blues paid £7m plus Graeme Le Saux to secure the transfer of the player. He was a regular in the Chelsea team in his debut season at the club. Wayne Bridge produced his finest moment in an Arsenal shirt as he found the back of the net with a very good goal to give Chelsea a 2-1 win away from home in their Champions League quarterfinal second leg clash. His goal gave the Blues a 3-2 aggregate win as they progressed into the last four of the competition. It also ended a run of 18 games without a win for Chelsea in all competitions.

Wayne Bridge won his first trophy at Chelsea with the Premier League title at the end of the 2004/05 season under manager Jose Mourinho. The left-back started the season as the first choice before he sustained an ankle injury during an FA Cup tie with Newcastle United in February 2014. He was absent for the remainder of the season but the player had already made 15 appearances in the league, which was more than enough for a medal. BRIDGE HAILS CHELSEA’S NEW SIGNING LUKAKU

The signing of Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku has given the Blues a new identity, according to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. The big Belgian sealed an audacious return to Stamford Bridge this summer after Chelsea agreed a £97 million fee with Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan following the brilliant season, he had with the Italian club last season as he helped them to win the league title. Their failure to get Haaland, who Dortmund slapped a whopping £150 million price tag on, plunged them into trying to sign Lukaku from Inter as a great alternative to their first option. Lukaku was bought for a little over £50 million less than the Haaland fee and it looks like they have done themselves a remarkable bit of business after Lukaku had a marvelous debut for the Blues on Sunday against Arsenal in the Premier League.
