The manager of Reading FC, Nigel Adkins, has lauded the forward of his team Pavel Pogrebnyak for putting up a great performance in the game against Doncaster Rovers yesterday. Reading won that game by a huge margin of 4-1.
Pogrebnyak looked in supreme nick against Doncaster. He made quite a few good moves and eventually found the net with a thunderous strike in the last minute of the injury time to extend Reading’s lead to 4-1.
The Russian striker hasn’t been a regular starter for Reading so far in this season, but, after the way he played yesterday, he might find himself in the starting line up in the next few games too.
After the game against Doncaster, when Adkins was asked about Pogrebnyak, he said, “Pavel ended the game for us in a grand manner. It was great to see him playing that way.”
“He has been putting in a lot of effort in training sessions and he is getting the reward for that now. He was just awesome in today’s game.”
“Our start was terrific. We didn’t allow them to settle down at all. However, towards the end, I felt that our intensity came down just a little bit, but, we got 3 points and that’s what we were playing for.”
Reading took the lead pretty early in the game with the goal of Danny Guthrie, but, they couldn’t remain ahead for a long period of time. Doncaster bounced back with Theo Robinson’s leveller.
The hosts got ahead again though when Adam Le Fondre found the net just before the completion of the first half.
In the second half, a couple of more goals came for the Royals and they managed to secure their 6th win in the ongoing Championship.
